I hope that if someone makes an after market LT1 intake that it is worthwhile.

The fact that our motors are obsolete and in limited numbers (considering) I'm surprised very much is made specificly for them from large manufactureres.

I seen where a guy converted a Donovon Alum block to LT1 reverse cool , opti and all. Now that would be nice (but probably about 5 grand...lol)

I know, it sounds strange but that's what guys at the track said. I can't vouch for that one, lol.

Edelbrock should take this a step futher, and cast an LT4 style intake to work with their 18 degree heads, or GM 18/15 degree heads.

Re: For you people who want/need an LT4 Intake Manifold

Am i the only one thats flabbergasted by the fact edelbrock makes an intake for everything from a rambler to a old buick or caddy, but nothing for an LT1/4??? Yeah they are great intakes for a stock motor, but throw on some big heads and a healthy cam and the intake becomes crippling! Very big part of why i moved away from b uilding a big power LT1 is i didnt want to pay BIG $$$ to convert a high rise single plain to work and have to get a throttle body and all that goes with that. They need something big that will take the kinda power an LT1 thats built can make!

They make something for anything under the sun, except an LT1 it seems. Were liek the redheaded step child or something! No love from edelbrock for all these years? WTF!

Man, I have to wonder how many of those they'd sell?

I don't think they'd ever break even on the tooling.

Myself.... being one of those guys who's crazy enough to build an LT1 like that... I probably wouldn't have went for the "Edelbrock LT4 style" intake anyways. If you're that serious, you call CFE, Hogans, etc., and have one built.

Not knocking you... just don't think this intake would sell real well.

Re: For you people who want/need an LT4 Intake Manifold

From the couple of different pics of these new LT4 style intakes it does not appear (from a pic with no specs) to be any better than a stock LT1 much less LT4 intake. The design does not appear to improve the volumetric efficiency, flow, etc. The removed lower portion looks like it would keep the ambient air temp down a little but they actually made it less volumentric (by external appearances) from removing half the plenum volume of the intake. Again this is all just based on looking at a pic with no specs, these things could flow better than LS style intakes...lol ..not.

The SuperVic EFI raised runner setup I'm having custom built will replace my custom ported LT4 intake, then I'll sell it on Ebay for a bazzillion dollars ..yayy Ebay : ...or maybe I'll just sell it here for a fair price

I think you've hit the REAL issue dead-nuts on.

The fact is, the factory LT1 intake is such a good piece that there really isn't all that much room for improvement until you get into some fairly high-end stuff.

How many factory intakes are there out there that, other than some porting; are being used on very high HP engines? (Very high horsepower in a street sense.)

I have a 750hp blown alcohol engine on the drawing boards and I will be using the manifold that is on my engine RIGHT NOW. I'll do a port match to the heads and throttle body, probably an extrude hone to smooth out the interior and perhaps some powdercoating. That it though.

Hell, I wont even use the Edelbrock piece because I WANT the heat from the valley.

And frankly, with only 750hp planned; there's no real point that I can see for using a Hogan.

You can, if I am not mistaken; get one of those Pizza Box manifolds from LingusFelter. Between the stock LT manifold, the Pizza Box and the Air-Gap, I think the entire "Under-$1,000" area is covered. Short of someone coming out with a modular composit manifold with changable runners and plenum; what would be the NEED for anything else?

Re: For you people who want/need an LT4 Intake Manifold

Mindgame, I dont think that they would sell many at all, let alone break even on the tooling It would just be cool if there was a bolt on for something like that, it would certianly help keep the build cost down of a project of this nature. Maybe they can come out with a reverse cooled version of their 18 degree head, and develop an EFI intake to work together as a package. Then again, we get back to how many they would sell, which would be not too many. My builder uses CFE, so Im pretty sure thats who he would be calling for an intake, in the event that I would build something like this. I know you aren't knocking me, no knocks taken.
