wide open throttle problem
wide open throttle problem
so my tranny is rebuilt, new posi/gears, and m y car still boggs out flooring it sounds like a poping sound in a way.. like either its getting too much gas, or i dunno.. it just chokes.. what could it be??
Re: wide open throttle problem
the elbow seams alittle torn towards the end connecting to the throttle body. ive been told it could be the coil tho as well.. im not sure about fuel pressure either, smells rich tho, havent been tuned since the header, and it started doing this after i put headers on it..
Re: wide open throttle problem
Running rich after a header install is common. So is misfiring. They all go hand-in-hand. Leaks in the headers before the O2 sensors causes the engine to run rich. The headers frequently burn wires, causing it to misfire. The misfires make it run even richer. Now it smells rich and run poorly, particularly under load when the wires are arcing and the ignition breaks down.
Put a scanner on it and check the long term fuel corrections..... they may be approaching 160 under some conditions, and that would confirm running rich due to a "false lean" condition.
Also fix the torn inlet elbow.... that also screws up the PCM, forcing it to add fuel via the long term corrections.

Re: wide open throttle problem
wouldnt a bad coil cause that as well?? im gonna try and take of the jetchip and see if that makes any difference..

First point, it would have been nice to know about the headers and the fact the problem occurred after their install in the first post. We shouldn't have to pull information from you to diagnose your problem.
As Injuneer said could not have been said any better. When ever something changes and a problem appears, suspect the change. You put headers on and in the course of doing so, removed wires and plugs. Now your running poorly and you want to believe it's the coil
See where this is leading?
Re: wide open throttle problem
well someone had mentioned the coil, but its happening above 3krpm and coil cuts out there i was told, so its either timing/fuel problem, but it does sould like excessive backpressure when it does choke...
