. For a track car you can run any gear ratio that suits your setup. I went to 4.10 from 3.73's and my set up didnt like it. I did but the car didnt. I do not shift into OD in the 1/4 but I'm also turning 6100 rpm thru the traps. On a stock car you probably would go to OD or just run out of power. I also lost some MPH and my 60's got worse... but that my set up. Every car and combo will be different. It seems to be working for Frank, but not me. I will be going back to 3.73's in the 12 bolt.
Oh and @75MPH in 4th with the converter locked I turn almost 3000rpm. No way in hell 4.10's in an auto @75 only turns 2300... something isnt reading right, either the tach or spedo is off. Its just not phisically possible to do that with 4.10's and a 4L60E and 26" tires.

My car is just a weekend cruiser/drag car

i thought the more gear you have the more power you will make until you reach your top speed? how would it hurt your 60' unless you dont have enough tire? wouldnt the only way you would lose mph in 1/4 would be if you got into OD?

Oh, I had a holeshot 3000 Torqe converter in it and it was UNBELIEVABLE! But the TC ate 3 tranny's 2-3 gears in a year, so now I have a GM performance Parts Tranny with an 1800 TQ
