Do you think high flow cats make it quite a bit louder also?

I'm thinking he'd prefer the no front plate ticket if the loud exhaust one would require "repair"?

Re: Whoa, no muffler.

I diidn't like the way my car looked with no exhuast tips, so I simply have a pipe runing from the inlet of the muffler, out the other side with a turn down, then no cats.... To me it sounded alot better with the cat, it was a lower rumble, it cancelled out the high frequencies... now it can sound a bit like a farm truck if you lug it..... a resonator woudl probably help

No cat or cats will be a little louder at idle than a highflow cat or cats, but much louder at WOT. I know because I've done it both ways on my '95 Z28.

Same exact thing happened to me when I was cruisin around with the cutout off last summer, except that he let me go. Warned me for both the exhaust and lack of a front plate.

Exactly. I had the bracket and the plate, so i just put it on and had the ticket thrown out when i went to the barracks the next day and showed them.

The exhaust wasn't anywhere near legal at the time, and it was much cheaper to put the plate on. Gives 'em one less thing to harass me about. I don't get pulled over anymore tho, helps working for the sheriff's office

Re: Whoa, no muffler.

When I bought my car something in the muffler was rattling so I just cut it off and has been off for about a year now.

Re: Whoa, no muffler.

So are ther any negative affects of taking off your muffler besides maybe getting pulled over?? Some people have told me that is pulls timing and you lose backpressure, and say it makes it lose torque on the low end. What do you guys think, cause im thinking about about taking mine off??

Re: Whoa, no muffler.

I have Hooker LTs and just took off my Hooker catback and Y pipe. I am running open pipes with an 18" turndown. It is VERY loud and wow does the car run good at the track. It is awesome!!! It will be too loud to run this way on the street though.

You need to run at least 18" of pipe after the collectors otherwise you will run very rich.

My car is track only now because of this, but that is the only time I drive it anyways.
