Talking Whoa, no muffler.

I took the muffler off my car last night whe I was changing my fuel pump. IT SOUNDS AWESOME!!! Has anyone else done this?? It pops though until the car gets warmed up though.

Re: Whoa, no muffler.

yep, 'cept I had long tube headers and no cats. That was fun. Then I put the loudmouth on, didn't change much I'll at least be driving it to the next county over after I finish my h/c swap with open headers, that'll be REAL fun

Re: Whoa, no muffler.

I dont think they enforce the exhaust sound thing here too much. I should be safe with that.

Re: Whoa, no muffler.

I cant recall the last time I have driven any of my own f-bodies w/ a muffler. Right now my 11.7:1 compression 383 is running open headers with a nasty cam. Lets just say cops tend to notice me and pull me over for no aparent reason sometimes.

I used to run my 96 formula with shorties, y-pipe, and cats.... thats it.

Its fun! Im putting my exhaust back on soon.

Get an electric cutout and you can hear that at the press of a button, and run silent when you need to.

Those things are so freaking expensive though for what they are. Arent they like 180 bucks or something. I would love one, its just that money is tight right now. The car is paid off in 6 months, then its time to play.

Yeah I'm running hooker LT's w/ no cats also, its loud as hell. I do have e-cutouts but the motor broke off one, and the other my brother pulled the wire out accidentally when we were removing my exhaust system. As long as I dont drive the car after 10pm I dont really run into a problem w/ the cops.

Re: Whoa, no muffler.

my friend took off his muffler and placed a pipe instead of the muffler, sort of like a Loud Mouth.... no muffler just a resonator

Re: Whoa, no muffler.

What is really amazing is how loud the car gets with no cats. Cats seem to hold back more noise than even the muffler!

Re: Whoa, no muffler.

that reminds me of the time i got pulled over, the state trooper just came up to the window, without even saying "hi" or "license and registration" or any of that jazz, he simply greets me with "your choice, loud exhaust or no front plate". That's a no brainer :P
