Hooker Aerochamber review

When I bought my 95 z28 it had a flowmaster cat back and puched cats. You all know the sound. Sounds great when WOT or goining through gears. Can't talk on the intersate and hard to hear radio. So I wanted something else.

I looked around and for the price Hooker Aerochamber offered me what I wanted.

I must say that the cut-out picture that you see is not the same type you'll get when you order the camaro crossflow type muffler. Looking in the inlet pipe you can see on the left side the exit pipe. A good straight shot. Free flowing. When the gases enter the muffler they are in an open chamber about 2/3 of the muffler. Kinda like a big oval glasspack. From that open chamber the gases have two exits to flow out of. I don't have a clue whats in the other 1/3 of the muffler. All I can see is that its squared off by the muffler sides and one exit pipe. Their is only one 2"est round hole almost straight across from the inlet pipe. Not sure what it does

Sound--- None of the classic V8 sound is lost. Yet its quite idling. On accelerating its opens up and gets louder but as soon as you maintain the RPM it quitens down some. None of the interior headache noise from the flowmaster. I can now listen to my engine rev up before all I could hear was --- Noise. The aerochamber sounds great when WOT. I hear some type of high speed air. It's not my supercharger it comes from the back. When I punch the throttle a split second later I can hear it. Kinda like the muffler has to spool up. I love it.

my .02

BTW has anyone gotten a SES after having a muffler welded on?

Cool

Good review. I really like when people give "detailed" analysis like this. This is the kind of information that really helps people out.

Thanks,

Mike

Ryker, I completely agree with you. I put one on last year, and I have loved the sound.

Not too quiet, but quiet enough to listen to the radio or hear someone when the talk.

I've had one for about 4 years, and it has good sound. Not deafening, no drones, can talk normally at cruise, almost normal at idle. The sound will improve after you get a few miles on it.

Ive been wondering if that muffler is on my car. When I bought my car it came with so I don't know. When you WOT with the hooker watch your tach. Does it start to make that sound at about 4,000rpm? Kinda like a whistle but not exactly. I love the sound i got. Deep and throaty down low, but screams when you step on it. I should get a clip of what it sounds like. Everywhere I got people say they love the sound.

My air sound kicks in at around 3k WOT but my supercharger helps in kicking up the horsepower sooner.

Looks like everyone enjoys the hooker aerochamber sound. If you like the sound bump it up to the top. Maybe we can get somemore guys away from the old loud flowmasters
