I'm down for one! I'd rather replace it w/ something like that than taking my chances with Opticrap These opti's aren't as easy to replace as a good 'ole cap & rotor.

As I write this my opti is dying, 162,000+ miles on the orginal.

For a part that the hayes manual says to replace every 30,000 miles, I think someone should come up with something good.

I'm in if MSD builds one, if not I live where there are lots of hot rod people that are engineer from mech-aerospace someone here should be able to make a replacement and then I'd sell them!!!!! And make millions(maybe) ha aha ah a ahahahahhahaah!!!!

Sorry dreaming again.

I'd be in if they decide to do it.

I'd be in if they made one and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Msd usually makes great stuff!

I found this on a thread here, what is wrong this unit? MSD is not interested in it if they can't sell 50,000 units or so and huge mass numbers due to cost.

Someone will need to do something soon. The LT1 has been out of production for 6yrs and is coming up on the time where GM doesnt have to make the part anymore. Either it will move over to GMPP or they will drop it then there will be a real need. Someone will eventually step up, it is just a matter of time.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that.

This thread makes no sense to me after finding this link which was posted on this forum:

http://www.dynotech-eng.com/dynaspark.htm

I talked to Phil a tech with Dynatech today on the phone about this OPTI they make and also questioned him about MSD. He regularly talks to MSD and they do not think it's worth the cost to setup factory production. MSD is into mass quantities. Dynatech is smaller scale and can afford to do this. So again I ask...has anyone considered the Dynatech? It's fully rebuildable, you can order parts for it, the sealing technology for the vented GenII OPTI is incredible. They are almost done with the GenI OPTI.

So what is wrong with the G. M. Opti?
I think a lot of people blame other problems on the opti and there is really nothing wrong with it!!!
I have 146,000 on mine and counting, and if it crapped out on me tomorrow I would not complain a bit.
Others out there have a lot more miles on theirs than I do too.
For $200 to replace that's not a bad price... Like someone earlier said you could replace three G.M. one's for the price of the aftermarket ones.
Does anyone out there that has an aftermarket one have over 100,000 miles on it?
Let's see how long they last???????

I have 73k on my z28 and I think mine is ok, I believe I slight misfire from old wires maybe, perhaps just the coil wire maybe a plug, easy fix and my first start, but just curious? Where did you get a price for 200 for a GM OPTI. I'm in Houston, TX and so far it's 450. Thanks

I prefer to ditch the distributed ignition for 8 individual coils, so I'm installing the LTCC system.
