Who has spent the most?
LOL, thanks Bret.
By the way, how is your little project coming along? Last I heard, you had a friend who works as a porter for one of the NASCAR teams and he was geared up to do the cylinder head work?
As far as "dashing hopes"... I hope that's not the case. If you can build an 11 second street car, and that's quite doable on even the most modest of budgets, then that's nothing to be ashamed of. 11 seconds is a reasonable goal for any street car in my opinion. Sure... those willing to spend more time under the hood can go faster but keep in mind.... there's always someone faster than you. Just depends on the company you keep.

I know I haven't spent the most, but this thread did spark some curiosity within. I keep most receipts, but I'm sure I've lost some along the way too.
So far to date, adding up the receipts in my closet (took over an hour) I came up with:$33,396.99
This doesn't count gas or oil, this is parts. Maybe $1000.00 labor for assembly of my shortblock and a shift kit install. I have sold a bunch of stuff along the way too, but I didn't keep track of that. I bet I sold $7k worth of stuff on here and on ebay.
Add $15,000 for price of the car (in 1998) and we have $48,396.99
Add $6,000 for the trailer to haul it around in, we're up to $54,396.99
Add $30,000 for the truck to drag it around with and we have a grand total of $84,396.99 "invested" in a hobby.
And my wife is SOOO Impressed. She read this as I was adding receipts, and it's safe to say I won't be getting any tonight.

I don't really want to think about it. I know I have recently spend $700 on my new cam project and now I think my bottom end is done. And I think I have spent $2000 easy on tires and I have put in 2 clutchs.
trey, i made a 1540 on my SAT's, and my mommy didnt give me anything except a pat on the back...that's what happens when parents have high expectations. now, i'm 22, and things havent changed.
as far as the amount i've spent; $12,000. damn, that's a lot of money. ok, whoever started this post, THANKS for making me feel like an idiot for spending 12 GRAND on a car...i'm gonna go take a shower...all of a sudden, i feel really dirty.

In 98 I spent 12k on my car in mods and was rewarded with a ATI blower puking its gutts through a new custom LT1. I lost it all....
This was above and beyound the 14k I spent to buy the car.
I stopped. Stepped back. took a break...and started over
Since I bought the car in 97 I have had the motor out for major work or replacement four times. Went through 6 rear ends and 4 Torque Converters. Now running a Yank and a Moser 12 bolt.
Right now I have less then 2k in the motor including headers, cam, heads and valve train.
Check the link in my sig for stat's

By the way, how is your little project coming along? Last I heard, you had a friend who works as a porter for one of the NASCAR teams and he was geared up to do the cylinder head work?

It's going to be interesting to see what this guy can do with them.
