Funny, the pro stock teams I've worked with do it that way. None that I know of do it on a bench tester/vise anymore.

The springs we sell for street/strip use. Beehives etc.. will not drop load (maybe a 1/2 lb or less) when compressed to solid.

Pro stock springs are a totally different animal compared to what you guys here will ever run.

You're right... they're just few engines that need 500 lbs of seat load and 1500 lbs open load though. Pretty much pro stock, pro-mod, mountain motor stuff.

I was just generalizing, which was wrong.

Maybe they are not that stout, but we are running Comp branded #26082 on my buddies blown alcohol Hemi: ~400# on the seat and 1000# open. You guys make these, right? We pay ~$400/set for them from our sources. Any cheaper bought directly?

We have a spring that matches the specs of the 26082 exactly. But it's the old Comp 948. The workhorse drag race spring for years. I wonder if 26082 is Comps new part number for the same old spring.

Our version is called PAC-1248, and a better version of the same spring is the PAC-1348. Both have 332 @ 2.100 and 950 @ 1.200". The 1300 series features nano-peening and other additional processing. The top alcohol guys love our PAC-1348 and 49s.

The standard version PAC-1248 is 3/4 what you pay now and the 1348 is a tad more.

Call and talk to Chris. YOu never know what kind of price he might give you

Thanks - we will be putting the motor together next week. We may have a set of new springs on the shelf though. If not, I will give you guys a ring!
