Mine (hot cam, GTP LT4 heads) starts dropping off at the dyno at like 6300, I shift at 6500.

I have been reading about what to rev to as well. Mine shifts at 6000-6100 and I wonder if it might pick up a little if I let it rev a little higher. It is still pulling very hard at the shift point. Gonna try to get a dyno tune, I guess I will see then.

I think Ken95Z28 revved his car to 6800 when he had the HOT CAM on stock LT1 heads.

Also remember that the shift points can go beyond the pulling point of the cam. I would rev mine a little higher in order to get it to drop down right where the cam starts pulling hard when it shifts gears. I need a couple dyno pulls, I'm curious about where this cam pulls to. Does anyone have any dyno sheets for a hotcam???

Ken95Z28 had a link to a graph on one of the threads I found last night, in LT1 Tech, I think it was How fast is your Hot cammed car or something like that. Just search in LT1 Tech for HOT CAM is how I found it.

I think he was shifting at like 6800, and the graph showed it pulling to that point as well.

I like the hot cam a lot. I rev to around 6200 rpm also. That's all I need bro.

Maybe I could be turning it that high for no reason, but it feels like its pulling good when it hits the rev limiter. Maybe might consider 6800 rpm pills....

with the hotcam kit i revved the car to 6000-6100. its not a solid roller setup, i wouldnt want to rev it up to 7k, and that cam isnt made to be that great up there. you might get more performance by shifting alittle sooner and staying within its max power range.

not to mention if you are only spraying until 6200, you should shift right after that, bc otherwise you are wasting 800rpms of no spray before it comes back on

spraying to around 5800 and shifting shortly after worked well for me, i would be willing to take that alittle higher but not over 1k more

I dunno....I think I'm O.K revving that high....Heads have been worked real good and I got the big TB and Ram Air. A little n20, also!!! I have my window switch where it shuts down at 6200, then the motor at 7000. I dont turn it that high all the time, just if I need to. But, heck if its still pulling that good up top, I'll let it have it!! Thanks for the responses!!!! Are you guys happy with the HOT cam or do you wish you had went with the cc305 or 306???
