Thumbs up Just got back from the track. New times with Hot Cam

Well. Lets just say that I am pleased with the results. My best before the Hot Cam & FLP's was 13.61 @ 100.73 Today I ran 13.03 @ 105.67 I know the car will be quicker with Tires & cooler air. Race weight with me was 3695 lbs. My 60's were pretty good on street tires. 1.82 was the best 2.02 worst out of 5 runs. I really think with nittos I could see 12.7 to 12.9's easy. Thanks again to everyone with their input. I love my car again... Rt 66 Dragway......

Cool

Nice times! Dump a little weight and get some traction and you will easily have 12.7's-12.9's. Skinnies are worth another .1. What converter are you running?

Just a 2000 stall........ I know if I get a Vig 3200 I could possibly see 12.5's . You think?

You definitely have quite a bit to gain with a higher stall conv. You could easily knock off .3-.5 with a Vig 3200.

If you do go to a higher stall, I good set of tires is needed. The LT4 HotCam loves the converter. You will be in the 12.5's for sure (traction permitted).

Congrats on the times. Your slip is exactly like mine after I installed the kit. If you haven't already.....you'll want to get that PCM reprogrammed. With just messing around with LT1 Edit and messing with my shift points, I am now at what's below in the sig. The only real difference in our cars is my suspension and I have a TCI converter, rates at around 3000 stall. You do have more in the car, just have to know where to find it. Good luck.

Nice times!I fave been playing with the idea of the hot cam since it is awesome deal for what you get. Also was going get TC at the same time. Now i have more the reason too.

On a side note does anybody know if SLP TC is any good.A vig or yank is to much $$ for me.Guys lt1 tech didnt respond to my post up there.

Thanks guys..... I have to now convince my wife to let me get a convertor. She said I was done!! I told here last night that it will be the icing on the cake & I will be done!!! Right... She hasn't bit yet.... Also I too can try to justify with my better half on this mod If I can get away with a cheaper priced convertor rather then shelling out twice as much for a vig or yank. Anything really wrong with going with TCI or something rather then the big 2? Maybe I'll post in tech too Thanks again everyone.

Congrats on your new times, she has alot more in her. With a higher stall, good tires, reprogram, decent air, you'll be in the mid 12's. I can relate with the wife thingy too...lol

When I read your post I was like damn that is almost the exact et my car ran first pass with the hotcam kit and headers. I ran 13.01@106mph first pass but I have a little headwork and stock 3.23's. I then bolted on some ET streets and went 12.70 on the next pass with a 1.75 60'. I have a vig and love it. I know they are expensive but search the forsale and try to get a good used 2800-3000 vig and you won't be disappointed. I did some more tuning and got a 12.50@107mph the next weekend so you have alot more left in it. Because I think my car has some more in it with tuning then I am going to change the gears and start tuning the N2O.

Thanks for the Motivation!! I know I probably have 12's just the way it is. But I am salivating at the Idea of 3200 Stall. My new Dyno #'s are in the sig. I should be in the 12's with these #'s.

Hey guys,

Have you thought about going with a Midwest stall? They have alot of the same internals as Vig and Yank for way cheaper. I had on built to my specs and shipped for $445 I believe. It was a great improvement. I just dynoed today and put down 270rwhp and 326TQ!!!! AND THOSE ARE DECLINING TORQUE NUMBERS AS PEAK WOULD HAVE OCCURRED B4 THE 3600 RPMS THE TEST STARTS AT. That is better than some of the hotcam tq I see in your guys sigs. I love my TC. Talk to John at HPA he is a straight shooter and tell him Shawn sent ya.
