where are HOT cam owners revving???
where are HOT cam owners revving???
Just wondering where everyone else is revving their motor's with the HOT cam??? I turn mine to 7000 rpm and was just curious to see how high evryone else turns their's up???? My motor revs as hard from 4000- 7000rpms as it does from 3000- 5000rpms, so I dont think Im overrevving......Been shifting it at 7000 for a year now and havnt done any damage. Thanks!!!
I shift close to 6200. The cam should not make any power at 7000. I have went as high as 6600 and no improvements up that high.
I just ran 91.6MPH Friday night with my HOT cam. I am impressed so far...with a best ET of 7.67 on a different track...

Dang...thats flyin in the 1/8!!!!!! Just wondering...what kind of tranny are you running??? I just thaught that if its still revving up quickly, then to rev it up.....I just feel like Im still making good power up high in the rpms. I mean, mine revs through 6000-7000 quickly, but I dunno.... still feels like it's making good power up till 7000. What other mods do you have on the motor??? Are you running stock heads????
I dunno....I think I'm O.K revving that high....Heads have been worked real good and I got the big TB and Ram Air. A little n20, also!!! I have my window switch where it shuts down at 6200, then the motor at 7000. I dont turn it that high all the time, just if I need to. But, heck if its still pulling that good up top, I'll let it have it!! Thanks for the responses!!!! Are you guys happy with the HOT cam or do you wish you had went with the cc305 or 306???
I have a Th350 and a Vig 3500 stall.
For some reason my set up will not pull past 6400ish with the LT4 heads I have (bowl work and larger valves). I have decided that if i do not gain anything by revving it higher then why put the stress on it?
I really think there is more in this combo, just got to keep playing with it. And yes, i do wish I would have went with a larger cam, I am considering swapping now as is....

I did switch to the CC306 about a year ago, and I really like the change! It is wild! KILLER pull after you gun it around 50-60mph!
Getting it dynoed next month
I liked the HOT cam, but I LOVE the CC306!

I have mine revving to 6500-6600, but it hits a wall at about 6200-6300. I need to have the computer program fixed to shift lower, but I have stock heads with bigger valves and a clean up. Didn't think the cam would pull to 7,000, thats crazy. The dyno is the only way to tell.

it depends on the set up. Since shanebang76 has ported heads shanebang76 will be able to make more power with higher rpm. to know exaclty where to shift take it to the dyno. when the power stops gaining thats where you shift.
I still contend that the cam is what allows air into the engine, if the cam's profile will not suck in that much air at that RPM then it doesnt work.
BUT will also say that he is not the only one I have heard about pulling the HOT cam way up there....never know what the circumstances are. I just know my set up doesnt like it...

If you guys put your car on a dyno, I can almost guarantee that it is not "pulling" as high as some of you say it does. Well hell, I can yank mine to 7, but it sure doesnt mean it is pulling or making good power all the way up there. Now, some of you with ported heads will get a little bit more out of revving a bit higher, but the hotcam's duration is not the duration of a cam that makes power up to 7k. Put it on a dyno and most of you will be shifting about 6000- 6400 depending on the other mods you have. If anyone has a hotcam sheet pulling to 7k, I'd like to see it.
