contraststriker,

so basically you delete WP drive from timing chain with electric WP(duh!) and you can use a normal true roller set like you would on any other small block?

Yes, for vented-style (pin-driven) optis this is true.

I got it directly from Cloyes. It's part number S505.

If you're running a stock, or close to stock engine, I'd go with the AE Clevite timing set offered at Advance Auto Parts for $42.99. Unless you've got a lot of mods, you don't need anything more. A roller will benefit you if you're spinning 8-10K RPM's, or running boost, with an electric water pump, but at 5700 to 6000 and/or N/A, the stock will be fine.

I've owned 3 LT1's at around 100K and have yet to see a stocker worn beyond use, but have replaced anyway. The AE Clevite timing sets are as good, if not better, than the stock sets. And YES this is a HELLUVA price. If you don't have an Advance Auto Parts nearby, order directly from their website http://www.advanceautoparts.com.

If you're dead-set on a roller and have an electric water pump, they have a good price on the Lunati Plus Roller set as well -- $49.48
