Where can I pull power for gauge Lighting????

I need a power source to tap for the lights on my pillar mounted gauges... Also, where do you run the lines to the engine bay??? I am planning to drill a hole in the firewall, where though???

You need to tap into the "on" side of the headlight switch, or the instrument panel dimmer rheostat. That way you only get lights in the gauges when the dash lights come on. My Formula doesn't have fog lights, so there was an unused connector behind the headlight switch that had +12V that switched on and off with the lights, so I tapped into that.

You can avoid drilling a hole in the firewall by running the wires under the dash, toward the kick panel on the passenger side, then through the big rubber grommet that is in the firewall behind the PCM. The wires get a little longer, but it avoids cutting a hole. I have several gauge wires, and the braided SS line for my nitrous pressure gauge running through the grommet... its pretty big.

Thanks Fred... I actually wired it to a switch so I have to manually turn the lights on because if I see a cop or something I want to be able to hit the button to turn the lights off. It might sound stupid but any sort of lights attract attention as if a blower whine is not enough...

Where else can I tap for power??? Also, I already drilled through the firewall to get the wires for my crane retard **** to the MAP sensor... I was going to make another hole, it seems like the braided line and the plastic hose (FP and Boost) are not long enough to go the grommet... Also, I have 0/1 gauge power wire running through that grommet. Where should I tap for the vacumn? Any suggestions Fred???

Pull out your fuse box and tap into the back.
Use a test light (cost $5) to see which will have power all the time when the ignition is on (guages or radio fuse) to use for guage power.
Then tap inot your dimmer fuse for power for illumination. It get 12V when you turn your lights on.

What color is the wire I need to tap for the power? I have a wire just hanging under my dash waiting for a 12V home...
