Whats max recommended compression for 91 octane?

Can 11 to 1 compression be done on an lt1 while still using 91 octane gas? can you go more then 11 to 1 compression on 91 octane?

also what brand pistons and rings should i use? (budget if possible)

also at what compression ratio will i have pistion to valve issues? and how do you correct pistion to valve issues? (run a lower lift cam?)

is more compression better?

or is there a certain limit to where you stop making more power with more compression?

also if i jump the compression up what other mods need to be done? such as a better cooling system? or more fuel? or?

Octane requirement is a function of the dynamic compression ratio, not the static compression ratio. The DCR depends on the camshaft selection. The more overlap, the lower the DCR and the higher static compression you can run for any given octane level.

Increased compression makes more power, but the gains are small. Go too high, detonate and you will lose HP and damage engine parts.

Without knowing the details of the build up - HP level, will a power adder be used?, etc. - no one can select your rings and pistons.

Why not post your specific objective in building the engine, and work your way up to the details once the objective is determined. What kind of HP are you after? Are you considering a stroker buildup? How is the engine used - street, track, both? How important is "drivability"? You're already asking how to tune it, but we don't know what the engine is supposed to produce

This may be helpful. Also - if you do a search you will find many posts about this topic.

1.6rr's, guide plates, hardened pushrods
58mm throttle body
30lb injectors

i dyno'd at 300 whp untuned about 2 months ago and i want more power anywhere between 400 and 450rwhp

i have been contimplating just adding a nitrous system to my current setup but then that is only power i have on the bottle, it has its pros and cons

for awhile i was thinking about going single turbo and shooting for between 500 and 600 rwhp but that is out of my price range because then i would have to get a 9inch rearend asap if i wanted to race from a dig, get a transmission and clutch built to handle the new found power, build the engine low compression with forged internals and go 4 bolt mains with new cam, home ported heads and intake would work out well with a boost application i would think since the air charge is being pressurized before entry into the intake

thats what im looking for guys any help would be much appreciated
