Pinion seal fixed under warranty. Clutch started chattering, pressure plate warped, probably from abuse of prior owner. Put in new LT4 plate and relined disk. Changed to Mobil 1 and subsequently developed intake leak ruining clutch disk. Took apart clutch and had disk relined after fixing intake leak. Severe overheat on the highway due to sudden failure of thermostat. Amazingly, no engine damage. Sudden water pump failure at about 70K due to unknown reason. AC compressor locked up at 72K. Other stuff-plugs and wires, rear disks, etc.is just normal wear.

I just had the rear and front seals replaced on my 97 Z28 SS , both are still leaking! I found out i have a bad balancer on the front, and maybe the crank is bad causing the rear seal to leak again.

If it's a bad crank, i just as well build up the motor while it's apart, the engine has 67,000 miles.

Anyone ever hear of a crank problem with the LT-1?

Bought my 94 with 28k miles last summer. The previous owner informed me it was going to be needing a clutch. The car now has 31k on it, and so far, this is what I've done to it:
Clutch, pp, t.o. bearing, pilot bushing, & flywheel resurfaced
radiator and upper & lower hoses
rear main seal
Both front wheel bearings
pinion seal
4 new rotors
Hawk HPS pads on all 4 corners
MSD Blaster coil (stock coil was ok, I just upgraded)

Problems I haven't gotten to yet:
Auburn lsd is shot
Bose CD player doesn't work
Still chasing a high-rpm miss
random backfire though intake on startup
PS pump whines like crazy
passenger-side window painfully slow

I think that's about it. That's enough for less that 4,000 miles of ownership.

I've broken rear ends twice, blown a 4L60E, burnt up 2 clutches when it was an M6, opti failure, coil failure, burnt plug wire but none of the above compares to last spring when I broke a connecting rod at 6900rpm. See why

Add two more leaks to my 97 LT-1 , leaking from the opti and water pump!

I had to replace the shortblock the oil pump failed and i spun a bearing. So i put in a brand new shortblock

I had the heater core go bad and leak all over my carpet
I need to replace the blown speakers
My tranny is starting to slip
o2 sensors
power window motors

I've only put 15K miles on it since i've owned it and i've had all these problems but now its like a brand new car

battery - died after 6 years
rear main seal - started leaking about 80k
pinion seal - started leaking about 60k
fan control relay - broke @ 80k - car overheated all the damn time
thermostat - just replaced with 160 degree
clutch - replaced @ 90k
passenger siade catalytic convertor - I shook something loose after I put on my borla exhause and subframes. I had a shop near me cut it out and weld a catco in its place. I'm going to get a random technology y-pipe to replace it soon.

and the big issue

The oil pickup fell off of the oil pump into the oil pan. Now, if I make any hard stops or hard right hand turns, my oil pressure dumps to zero and the chech gages light comes on. After the car levels again the pressure goes back to normal and the light blinks off. This means that I have to jack the motor up, drop the K-member, and remove the oil pan only to place the pickup back on the oil pump. I bought a bracket from Jeg's that is supposed to make sure it does not come off again. What joy! I just haven't found time to do it yet. After I do this - I'm sure my motor will blow up. It's been used to working with the starvation problem - if I fix it - something bad will happen!!!! LOL!

2 years, 15k miles, 20+ track passes, lots of 1.7 60ft's and never had any problems with my car until i installed the cam in the stock shortblock(140k). first the alternator, then the opti which i denied until i went through 2 sets of wires and 3 sets of plugs. finally bought a new opti and then i spun like 3 bearings. so its been down for 8 months now, but a 355 is going in any time now.

so up til today i hate :

opti's
alternators
stock shortblocks w/ xe230/236.....LOL!!
oil pan gaskgets
driver side window motor
headlight motors
a/c that doesnt work in 100*+ texas heat
