I cant really say much about my LT-1, only had the car for two weeks!

It's a 97 z-28 SS with 67,000 miles, but both front and rear seals were leaking, had them fixed, but the engine is still leaking oil!

I think its the intake this time, or they did a bad job on the seal repair, other than that the car is fine, and itspretty darn fast for a stock car.

Bought mine with 9k miles.

Only problems have been driver side window motor, alternator, and a/c compressor. Oh and my outer bolster support on my seat does not adjust any more. Very reliable car so far. Never left me stranded or been down unless doing mods on it.

 

AIR pump was dead when I bought the car(fixed under recall)
waterpump went out
opti was to blame for a miss in #7 cylinder
transmission mount completely crapped the bed
Bose stereo went out
starter solenoid went out
radiator clogged
block cracked
coil tested bad
heater core went bad
both window motors

The cooling systems in these cars are an absolute nightmare. Honestly, that system was the cause of most of my problems.

 

My heat doesnt work too well. I think i need to do a heater core flush. But i dont really care, i just put on another layer of clothing.

Fuel pump died while on the highway once. I was telling my father i wanted to fix it myself to save $, and hes like naw bring it to the dealership. So i think it was 1400 for fuel pump, sender, and labor or some ****. Could have had a CPT tranny for that price.

Passenger window motors dying, but im too cheap to fix it now. It still works, but goes slow.

Thats really all ive had in 3 years of owning the car. Not too bad.

 

my AIR pump went out also, at 73K

 

Well lets see where should I start... umm .. Ok one of the fist problem I had was the "opti" .. this was probably when the car had about 90K miles on it..replaced that.
Then my next major fixed was the clutch, about 95k miles or so. Not too long after that my water pump die on me....so it went smooth for 2 or three years then my Master cylinder went out on me on my way to work, which I had to drive to work on 1st gear (for the about 5 mins only)

Also replaced the radiator, nothing was wrong with it, but I remembered someone suggested it so I did it.

Then the worse thing that could happen.....water pump dies again !!! drove it for about 5 min(moron) that ofcourse cause a head gasket to blow !!!

and last but not least this past christmas I blew the block, so I got a good deal on a use block, replaced all the bearings and full set of gaskets new hv oil pump, "rebuilt" the water pump(out of cash) this is when I bought the cam305 and had it installed b4 everything was put back together.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that my "ignition switch" went out on me too about a year ago or so.

This pretty much wraps it up, any other little problem I had, were the common hose liquing and what not..

After all those problems I still wouldn't sell or change the LT1!!
the car is at its best right now, burning rubber and dusting mustangs...

-jumped a curb and broke one of my rims
-intake bellow ripped
-bad grounds
-car got keyed and egged
-spun bearing in number 8
-transmission broke
-altenator died
-starter died
-fans quit, installed a switch to turn them on
-now has a bad hesitation after 1500 rpm
-clogged up catalytic converter
all this in the 6 months that i had it. all now fixed except for the hesitation, lucky me

 

When your cat got clogged up, it's a good possibility that one or both of your O2 sensors could have been fouled. Does it even out if you floor it?

 

-opti(rotor exploded)
-coolant hose blew(the really long one that wraps around the block)
-clutch exploded
-clutch fork snapped
-slave cylinder broke
-about to yank the engine to find out why it hasnt run since december

 

150k miles and the only prob was a head gasket leaked coolaNT into the piston

 

window motors most recently. had a small oil leak when i bought it last june w/90k but the seller took care of that. other than that it's pretty good for 100k miles

 

bought car aug 22 2003 with 106,000 miles, now has 135,000 miles
-hit sign being young and stupid, screwed up nose
-got nose fixed and hit a deer 1 week later, screwed up nose, driver's fender, and headlight brace. fixed myself
-fuel filter
-transmission shifter cable broke
-broke tranny mount (did it 3 times till I smartened up and got a poly unit)
-LSD doesnt work
-waterpump failed
-opti was on its way out right before I swapped engines
-battery died
-transmission died (burnt 3-4 clutch)
-TCI converter lockup clutch failed which then killed my newly rebuilt transmission. converter fixed by TCI (good service) and transmission fixed for CHEAP (great shop)
-radiator has a leak


oh yeah, and this crazy thing, I keep going through sets of rear tires! don't know how

 

yes it does
and i might be the opti too, because the engine shakes real bad and my water pump was leaking on it alittle bit.

 

Check out your O2's. I had similar symptoms as yours and that's what it turned out to be on mine.

 

it looks like mine only has i 02 sensor, is that correct. how much do they go for?
