what problems have you EVER had out of your Lt1???....everyone post

Im bored (as was i in the other thread)

so i decided to start a post for future "search" users to find (that would be helpful)

mine has Never broken down..........only problem to EVER keep me from driving it was my upper radiator hose exploded while it was parked over night (im guessing it was just old and split from pressure changes over night...........extremely strang sounding i know, but the truth) (Im glad i inspect my car before i drive it off...............or else that would not have been good.) fixed it next day and is running better than before surprisingly (didnt think that it could run any better.....thats how immaculate and well kept it is )

Tranny Mount (thats a given for autos though) (fix: $30 energy suspension mount)
one shift solenoid (fix: $25 ALL new shift solenoids.......not just the one that blew)

anyways, those are the only things i have EVER had go wrong with my car

almost 10 years and still running better than ever. (proof that if you take care of anything with proper maintenance it will last for an extremely long time) GJ GM (cept for that opti thing........ )

i drove mine off a cliff on top of the rocky mountains, when the car and i finally hit the ground, it didn't explode like in the movies but it did scratch the paint. nothing a little touch up paint from wal-mart couldn't handle.

My 94 has about 89,000 miles but I bought it at 80,000. I bought it in Tennessee and drove it back home all the way to new mexico without any problems. That lasted about 4 months when my car got rearended while it was parked and ever since then its been repair after repair. From September 05 to now its been the opti, wires, plugs, waterpump, rear main seal, clutch, window motor, window track, and I think the intake manifold is starting to leak! All I have to do now is wait for the fuel pump to go. LOL But all these are known problems in the LT1 so at least I've got most of them around the same time.

It's a good thing you happened to install that "Car-Off-A-Cliff-Emergency-Parachute-Pack" you bought from Wal-mart the previous week huh? I bet that was the best $19.99 you ever spent...

no opti problems in this thread? damn, that is half my headaches as I am starting to believe it went out again, just replaced it in Dec. my valve covers have some oil seepage and my rear main seal leaks. both I just found out about 2 weeks ago and had saved money up for new valve covers and to get my headers installed until the car decided to not start again 2 days ago.

i hav a 95 camaro with 60K on it and i have had less problems out of my blown 70 prostreet nova then out of this car. probably because i bought it from a kit who screwed with it when he had no idea what he was doing but oh well i will eventually get it lined out

1994 Z-28 @ 95k miles the waterpump gear fragged. A couple teeth took out part of the timing gear and the hardened teeth that sheared off got into the main and rod bearings. It was ugly. I just bought the car too, and didn't have a chance to be hard on it. It ran super prior to that, so I'm not even sure if the previous owner ran the snot out of it or what.

That was 2 or 3 years ago, new motor now with electric water pump. Won't be having that problem again, but the new motor did eat the stock trans for lunch. It's new too.

Oh boy.... clogged cat caused my car to overheat, that blew my front and rear main seal and was leaking oil bad (once it cooled down the leak went away). Replaced the cat and discovered a bad coolant leak, two weeks later it started overheating, even though I replaced the coolant several times. Had a leak down test done and they said it was a blown head gasket. I didn't have the time or the money to fix that so it sat for several months. Took it to another shop that only deals with domestic v8's they found out that the head gasket wasn't blown but a coolant line had blown that was pouring onto the heads and made it look like the heads were leaking. The overheating was from the computer stopped sending signals to my fans to turn on, this fried the waterpump.

Fast forward, motor is fine (motor has about 45k on it, its from a 96 Z) I have a slip in the tranny in the 2-3 shift at WOT and my rear end whines. Thanks GM!
