I guess they're just loud. I got them at zero lash and did 1/4 turn. I hope that's right. My idle varies form 600-700. You can see the seperation of the puffs of exhaust at idle so I guess it's "loping" but you can't hear it. Maybe TDs will fix that.

i used to set mine to 1/3 turn but they always seemed loose so i tried 1/2 turn with same results. i guess next time i'll go with 1/4 since more preload didn't make them any quieter.

i have the cc305 and my car idles at 1000 it has a subtle loping sound and when putting around in 1st gear at under 1500 you can really feel the lope

Well, I don't know what's wrong with mine. Maybe it's runing too lean?? You can barely smell it running even right after startup. Before it just about choked you. Would running too lean cause a much smoother idle?

You may not be getting alot of lope just because the grind of cam you have.

You got a very small cam, I wouldn't expect it to lope much.

I guess the XFI280 wouldn't have been too big after all?

I thought with the lift numbers on the XFI268 it would be right about on par with the CCXE503.

Lift does not make lope.

Well that sucks. After all these hours at the computer and calls to CC and it seems I still made the wrong cam choice. My stock cam loped better @ 700rpm than this one does. Tommorow when I get it running again it better be really really fast or I'm gonna be pissed. Just FMI, to change the cam out again I'd have to pull the intake and all that off again wouldn't I?

Should it have been the 503 or the XFi 280 I wonder??

Find out what kind of power it makes first. Would you rather have a cam that lopes and makes less power????

I'd give up 5-10 hp for a mean lope, yes.

You'll have to redo everything. The only thing you won't have to do is swap the valvesprings. The smaller cam will probably make more usable power than the 280 but will have less lope. Sounds like the 224/230 was what you should have gone with if you wanted lope.

OK. I just drove it around for a couple minutes. At idle and reving it up it does great, but I'd swear it's not any faster than before, it may be slower! Those rockers are REALLY LOUD too, you can stand at the back of the car and hear them. It's not missing but It feels like the power is going in and out especially above 3K-5K RPMs. Could the rockers possibily being out of adjustment be an issue.

Yes, poorly adjusted rockers can definitely lead to power loss or worse. Have you had the PCM tuned as well?
