What other valvetrain upgrades needed with cc503 cam swap
I'm thinking off doing a cam swap and I need to know what parts I need with the cc503 cam. I'm thinking lifters, springs, and 1.6rr (are these necessary?). Any any requirements?

I highly suggest roller rockers. In my opinion you also need a new and better than stock timing chain.

When I was considering that cam grind, it was suggested to me to go with NSA rockers and guideplates. I also agree with the above post, I would upgrade your timing set to something stronger like the LT4 set or a Cloyes.

That thread contains a list I made of parts for a cc503 swap. I am still in the middle of the swap as the block is still at the machine shop.

The idea is to get the profile of the lobe on the cam to the valve. As has been stated before everything is a spring so you want the stiffest parts you can afford. Here is my list.
1. Best quality and stiffest pushrods you can buy. I went with 3/8 Manton pushrods on my buildup.
2. The Comp Pro Magnum rocker arms are very good. Others equally as good.
3. I would go with the beehive valve springs. They control harmonics better and they do not require as much valve spring pressure. Less load on the other parts.

ahh..when everything was said and done with gaskets, components, a few new tools to do the job(a puller), oil, filter i think it was close to $1300. But i replaced everything, i got comp r lifers, bee hive valve springs, lock and retainers, ed timing set, pro mag roller rockers, 7/16 studs, hardened pushrods, the cam itself, felpro gaskets, valve seals.
you can probably get away with using your stock lifters, i switched to the comp "r"'s for insurance but now people stopped using them because there are questions about how safe they are(see the sticky). you could also keep your stock studs (i think) and save a little money there too.
Anyway I bet you could get it done for around 1100 but when it comes to stuff like this i think its worth the extra couple hundred dollars for stuff that you know will work. Call the guys from Combination

...i guess their called nrp racing now?..does anyone know if its the same guys anymore?

I wouldnt do a camswap without proper springs to match the cam. Your only cheating yourself by not doing this. Stock springs suck buddy.
I would do hardened pushrods also.

you definately want to change the springs. their not as hard or complicated as you think to do and you want to beable to put more lift safely. lift is something that you (for the most part) want as much of as you can. Duration adn lode separation are the characteristics that you have to be more mindful of because they will be the ones that effect the powerband that your motor runs in, effecting the drivability of the car.
Check out the hot-cam kit. it might be more in you price range. keep the stock lifters, get new springs with retainers and locks, rockers and cam and an ED timing set. Just search HOTCAM and check it out. Alot of people use this set up and get really nice numbers out of it.

Will new OEM lifters and timing chain be OK for this kit. What else would I need?
