If your not milling the heads, I dont see why the stock push rod length wouldnt just go right back.

OBTW dont forget to get some gaskets to go over the valve tips (forgot what they are called, but you want to do them while there)

Well crap, there goes another $21.95 down the tube! What are these gaskets you say I need? Think I can get them locally?

I believe he is talking about valve stem gaskets. Its probably not a bad idea to have the heads milled some while they are off. Make sure you have a good seal for when you put them back on.

OK UPDATE!

I've almost got the motor back together, I should finish it tomorrow. I'm waiting on my PCM to get back from MadZ28. Didn't run into any problems except we could figure out how to get the hub off. Almost broke it with the impact before we figured out you had to push against a bolt in the middle.
I've got alot of pics of the install and I'll get them on my cardomain ASAP. I'll post back when it's finished and running.

BTW the 7.200 pushrods were perfect length.

Sounds like you got that together pretty quickly. Let us know how it runs when completely finished.

Yeah, my dad and I worked on it like 12 for three straight days. Would have been done by now except that he lost one of the valve locks and we had to order another set for summit. I just hope the PCM gets here soon.

Also, the valve covers wouldn't fit but thanks too CZ28 I found the post that told how to bend up the rails in the center so now they fit perfect!

It's finally done!! I get the computer back from Ion tommorow! I can't wait to fire it up. Got some pics up on my cardomain!

I have 60 or pics, let me know if there is a particular part of the process or part you want to see.

OK, I got it started and it ran awesome! I say ran because it died on me while I was driving 60 MPH down the interstate!!!!! I was able to pull over and it started again after about 5-7 minutes. The only thing I can think of is the tap of the connector to the optispark broke off so I used black silicone to hold it in there so maybe it wasn't a good enough connection. I'm ordering a new harness now.

Second, the cam has no lope at all!! It fact, I have it idled down to 600-700 RPM and I swear it idles smoother that my stock cam! That kinda sucks because I was hoping to have a little ratty-rat sound and a lopey idle. It's just real loud with the cutout open, but not a lot of tone. I'm probably going to TDs w/ no mufflers w/turndowns and h-pipe and see if that helps the tone some.

Thats weird that it has no lope at all. I would expect some lope out of it.

Me too. Maybe the idle is too low?

With the idle that low on any sort of cam it should lope some. Even with the stock cam.

I"m going to try to move it up to 650 see if it stablizes. It acts like it's trying to die at 600 so it jumps to 700-50 then drops back down. You can hear a little lope and ratty-rat crakle when you first start it up but once it warms up it sounds stock. Maybe it's running too lean in closed loop.

Also, these pro mag 1.6 rockers are really loud. You can hear them over the exhaust almost. Would this mean they are too tight or too loose? MAybe I'll have to readjust them.
