What Damper?

Hello I am looking to put a ATI Super Damper on my Camaro.

I have a 95 shortblock with 97 accessories on the front. I believe that the balancer hubs changed between the two year? When I order the damper which year should i order for? I think 95 but I would like to comfirm.

Also what size should I go with for best performance? I dont have a aftermarket radio so charging is not a issue. These part numbers are from Summit Racing:

6.750 in. ATI-917271
6.780 in. ATI-917272
7.500 in. ATI-917268
7.530 in. ATI-917270

Thanks,

Jason

Re: What Damper?

You have a raised idle for the cam and deeper gears so engine rpms are up all over from stock so charging wont be an issue, I would go small.

Far as the year parts the difference is the 96-7 hub is slightly shorter to make room for the CPS reluctor, the accessory depth is far as I know the same. So what hub you need depends on if you are running the CPS reluctor or not.

Re: What Damper?

Ok that makes sense, I am running the CPS reluctor since i retained the OBD II. So i will go small diameter for the 96-97 cars.

Thanks for your help.

Re: What Damper?

I thought the ATI came with the short hub for the CPK cars, and a spacer for the non-CPK cars. But I bought mine 12 hears ago, and they might have changed.

If you plan to run high RPM, it would be an advantage to keep the accessory drive RPM's down.

I believe they still come with the spacer from what I have been reading today. Sounds like one hub fits all years +/- the spacer. I run the motor up 6600 and the limiter is set at 6800.

Do you think I should run a larger diameter for that RPM?

Thanks,

Jason

Re: What Damper?

A larger diameter spins the accessories faster. You should use the size closest to stock, or the next size smaller. A smaller pulley slows down the accessories.
