Don't want to speak for anyone but... didn't Taner's original engine come out of Agostino's shop or is there alot more to that story?

I think what happened to ARE is something that happens to a good many businesses these days.... they got too popular too fast and just didn't have the facilities to meet the demand. Worse than that... they weren't turning any work away. If you're in business manufacturing things then you have to keep your greed-factor in check or you're gonna run into problems.

Farm out stuff and you lose some quality control.... get in a hurry and the same thing happens. You ever hearn the saying... "Hurrying up to _ _ _ _ up"?

Don't know the whole story but I have always been a little leary of these "tuner" shops and will generally seek out guys who have been at this stuff for more than a few years with track records of success. My advice to anyone looking to build a HP engine.

So true. It's too easy to get a reputation today, either good or bad. The 'net is how this happens.

Yes they couldn't meet the demand so they lie and take your money, then you wait and wait to get pure junk that a child could put together better.
Then after you can't tune the engine because the compression is way to high, afer arguing with them back and forth the compression is 12.5 to 1 for a supercharged engine. Then that engine comes out sent back, then they start there lies again, you wait and wait, more lies and lies.
After about 4 months you get the engine and this one is no better than the first one. It's loosing oil pressure it not even ballanced, out 70 grams up front and 80 in back, wrong pistons for the engine, rings arent even sealing in the cylinders, came bearing have to be replaced and all the main and rod bearings. The callies crank had to be polished because of so much dirt.
I can go on and onabout these engines,it's nothing to do about how busy you are.I;am a marine engineer and we were always busy and in a hurry because time is money, but we couldn't throw the engines together like these clowns do or we wouldn't have our gob long. When you start getting that sloppy you should get out of the business and start delivering news papers.
All the time and money these idiots cost me and a lot of other people
they should be in prison and that would be even to good for that liying scumbag Nick Agostino and Wade Stevens.
I could wright a book on the hole bunch of these clowns.

Have a good day Clary

I'm one of the few running a ARE 396. Had tuning issues w/ it but that was it. Blue printed and spec'd. Everything I requested was on the block. I know it was tore down due to sabatoge. But this was back in Y2K too. I ordered in Dec and was quoted 6 wks but it was more like 3 months because of a line honing problem. They even paid for shipping to my overseas locations since it was their fault and I didn't have to pay for the core on the block either. That was then but they've had problems since Apr 2001 and only a few got what they asked for.

Never had it dyno'd tuned just mail order and it's got a little over 420 to the wheels w/ ported LT1 heads. The heads are a work of art and look exactly as the day I dropped it in the bay. Seriously worked to say the least. I had it specifically built for topend and it does exactly that. Here on the autobahn's I've been clocked doing 189mph so you can say I'm happy w/ it and this is the 3rd rebuild! How says 396's can only be rebuilt once or twice?

I feel for you man.

Didn't think about that....... The good ones weren't done by ARE. Now it makes sense.

Re: Warning don't buy engines from Nick Argostino

btw this is the other side of the story.
Clary orders motor... then changes mind in mid build-up... then wants boost....6lbs... then gets motor and decides to go 15psi and melts it. nick sends cash and rods pistons... motor as of 2005 'runs great' over phone conversations.... but wants to shove pistons up someones ***...
Your a messed up guy, i feel sorry for anyone near you.

Re: Warning don't buy engines from Nick Argostino

After reviewing this thread a bit more in depth, I am going to have to respectfully close it. A simple and factual warning to other members is one thing, however it has gotten a bit personal and doesn't exactly belong here, nor will it do much good the way this one is going.

Hope this can get worked out for everyone soon.
