trying to run without MAF??

I've been contemplating a 'different' design of an LT1 intake, but the way it would be situated, it would be near impossible to run a MAF. Kinda like a ITB setup.
Why? Because I don't like the sharp 90deg angle at the throttle body. And I could most likely get more flow..

SO, can someone give a 'quick' comparative between MAF and Speed density fuel injection.
I bought the book some time ago on GM fuel injection, but changed my mind a couple of times, so it didn't get read that much. And what I did read has been forgotten.

Thanks E

Re: trying to run without MAF??

The 94+ LT1 pcm can handle speed density mode just fine. The tuner I have been using the last few years prefers speed density so for me the MAF is just basically a coupler.
I began running the y-pipe setup because there was only room for a very short filter inline and the inverted cone in the end of that filter made for screwy MAF readings back when I was using the MAF. Airflow needs to be even and smooth when it crosses the MAF or it can be erratic.

Hey, you wouldnt' mind giving me your tuners info would ya?
The guy that I was going to use doesn't like Speed density..

Nothing wrong with running speed-density, with a very good tune. The VE tables are critical.
