Trouble starting has me confused....
Ok, this has been going on for a few weeks because I haven't really had time to mess with it. When starting the car it has to crank 4-5 times longer than normal to get started. I don't think it is the battery because it is showing no signs of weakness as it cranks and cranks at the same speed and has been for a couple of weeks now. I think that if it was the battery then it would have died by now for sure. I thought maybe I had gotten some cheap gas but now I have been through several tanks all from different stations. Once the car starts everything seems normal and it has good power. So if you have any ideas let me know. Note: The opti is less than a year old and the plugs and wires are about 1.5 years old. I am showing no SES codes and I have 80k on the clock. Thanks in advance.
Get a fuel pressure gauge and see if the pump is doing it's job. Might also be a clogged fuel filter by the way it sounds.
Just for kicks, when you go to start it next time, turn the key to the "on" position, but don't crank it. You should hear the fuel pump priming. Turn it to the "off" position after you hear the pump relay turn the pump off. Do this cycle about 3-4 times, and then try to crank it.

I will try the fuel pump thing today, although I hope that is not the problem. The fuel filter is usually changed every 3-4 oil changes. As stated before it runs great once it is started. I will try it out. Anyone else?
Could be a weak coil....get a spark gap checker (NOT a spark plug gap checker). Available at any auto parts store and costs about $8. It's a little clear tube with some pointed screws, an alligator clip on one end and a spark plug wire connection on the other. You hook it up to one of the plug wires to ground and adjust it to a specific gap length. An LT1 should have a strong enough spark to jump a 3/4" or so gap if I remember right. It's in the instructions...
