I don't know how it would like it with a 224/230?
I haven't seen it done here, but it has been done before. I remember something like a 505 HP big block that ran on 87 craptane. Thats a difference of about $3.75 for every tank though, is that going to save you that much money? If you fill up once a week thats $195 a year.

Hey, at least were willing to go to war and die for our cheap oil prices as you call them......I have never seen Canada do that, so what, you pay higher gas prices....you also have a great medical plan. [LOL]

CANADIANS as two people JUST said... american dollars are not the same as canadian dollars... our dollars are worth more... therefore a 1 dollar pack of gum in america will cost approx. $1.70 in canada... the value of the product is the same but the currancy is not... stop saying americans and their cheap gas... you are actually paying slightly less than us... sunoco 94 $2.07/gal here... im gonna go to iraq myself just for the oil- DAMN YOU OPEC! btw most expensive gas in the world is in the uk and hong kong WITH the currancy value exchange calulated a gallon of 90 octane (the highest available there) will set you back $5.16 and $6.03 OUCH!!!!!!!! no wonder everyone there rides bikes and drives earqle mobiles...

octane rating is a ratio of combustion retardation : the higher the octane rating the higher the resiatance of the fuel to prematurely detonte in the combustion cylinders. almost every domestic vehicle produced in the US is designed to operate on ( ughh) 87 octane at a minimum, most higher performance vehicles "recommend" 93 octane i.e. preminum. at $1.819 G for premium here in NJ it is not so bad. since i have been servicing retail fuel dispensers for 10+ years it is quite easy to get gas for "free" he-he-he. if you noticed smoke after a fillup, i'm afraid you got either water or a high alchohol mixture, which the terminals use to clean their storage tanks( alchohol bonds to water particles and floats them to the top of storage tanks which is a convinient way to pump out their unwanteds) right into the consuming publics tanks. sorry to hear, i would find a new brand of fuel for my car.

It was more of just a whimsical thought, but some of the gas out in the boonies is nothing but 87 The best I could find on the way to Colorado was rated at 88... should I bring some octane booster?

No, actually the octane rating is a mathematical formula....you can easily see it next time you fillup, it's the fine black print on those little 3"x3" yellow square stickers on every pump in America.

Where do I think "they" get the rating? It's a formula that has been around for over a hundred years!
No thanks,
I don't need a sticker.
And what is www.pei.com supposed to be? They look like a computer company.....I clicked on "site map" in the upper right-hand corner....[nothing about it being a octane company...]

I don't know the exact formula....but I'm sure somebody on this board does....it's something like:
R + M / 2 = X or something like that....

The fuel octane ratings that are posted at the pumps are the results of a mathmatical formula. Its on the friggin fuel selector button for crying out loud.

That's exactly what I'm saying....but next time you're @ the pump, look for little, square, yellow sticker somewhere on the pump....it has the actual formula on it.
