Transgo question
Transgo question
Last year when the Vig. 2800 went in I had the trans shop install a Transgo shift kit. I was told that without it the shifts would feel soft with the new converter. The shop had their own version of a shift kit but I had already bought the Transgo and told them to put it in. I also told them I did'nt want it to snap my neck under normal driving conditions.
Heres the problem. It seems to shift fast, but not as hard as when it was stock. Now it takes more gas pedal to chirp 2nd gear.
And what are the washers you guys talk about. As in you should use 2 or 3 for firmer shifts. Would adding a washer help firm up the shifts? Would this help my times any? Is it any better for the trans? And last but not least would it be very expensive? Sorry for the long post.

With a loose converter the shifts are not going to be as crisp as with stock. The fluid absorbs the shock. Three washers is the firmest. I put 3 washers in mine with a 2400 converter. At first it would chirp 2nd at part throttle, but not so now. I guess the clutches have worn some.
Actually for the best performance you don,t want a murderous shift, A nice healthy chirp is fine. I have a TCI converter and trans go shift kit and I have to really be in it for it to chirp 2nd. You want to hook your power to the ground not burn up your ET in useless spinning shifts.
