Track times: CC306 and stock heads

Well it didn't go as well as I had hoped. Especially in the ET category. I really shouldn't have been lazy and took the ET streets. I also found a vacuum leak while at the track. All these times are on my 17" ZR1s with Craphos, dino oil still in (told you I got lazy), and were feathered off the line and still slipping a little. 80 degree weather and 75% hum..

13.761 @ 106.86 w/ 2.286 60'
13.623 @ 106.40 w/ 2.256 60'
13.636 @ 106.18 W/ 2.208 60'

13.609 @ 107.22 w/ 2.218 60'

All with stock converter and gears (2.73)

A switch of tires, stalling it off the line, and some good weather and I should see 12s along with traps near 109. It will really come alive with a stall and gears.

Actually that seems like a respectable mph for an auto, and also.............I don't see them in your sig, so I am guessing that you didn't do 1.6 roller rockers or a electric water pump?

It helps free up horse b/c the stock one is cam driven therefore robbing some hp. The electric ones eliminate that but you have to use a double roller. Worth it IMO. Mine is just a weekend crusader.

You can use a stock timing chain (single roller) with the Electric pump. The electric pump allows the option to run a double roller .

Are 2.73's and stock converter really bad for a cam car? or just any car in general?

Yes, both are terrible for a cammed car, and both can be swapped out for a huge improvement even with a stock engine. Gears and TC will likely be your biggest bang-for-the-buck mods.

You mean both are terrible as far as performance goes. It isn't actually bad for the car.

Hopefully I will have a torque converter and gearsin the next month. I just chose to go a different route, nothing wrong with tryng something new.

I'm still trying to figure out the fact that your track times went up after the cam install. Were you really loosing that much traction? I'm looking at putting in that same cam. My gears are done and I have a 3000 stall. If the ET's drop fugetaboutidt.

I was losing traction and feathering it off the line. I probably didn't hit full throttle til about the 60' mark. If you look at the 60' times from my previous times to now, you can see that they are 2 tenths better. These times were on street tires and the otehr times were on ET streets although they were still slipping b/c I couldnt heat them up enough. My previous ET bests were in 50 degree weather too. The new ones are in 80. Too many variables that my prior ET runs had, all the stereo equipment was out and so on. I just wanted it at the track ydya so I just ignored it all including the tires, stereo, etc.

MPH is a better indicator of power than the ET. I am expecting 12s @ around 108 or 109 with the exact same setup.
