Tranny Cooler Location

I have a ?? about placment of my tranny cooler. I know most ppl have their coolers mounted on the front of the rad., (including mine, which is a Hayden 24,000gvw cooler in series), which is fine for my normal driving. I have a VIG 3500 and normal driving is fine, it's when I get to the track I have problems. On the staging line, temps are usually at 150*, after my burnout and launch, (usually around 2500), and then my run, I have temps up to 195* and the tranny starts to slip comming back the return lane.

Anyway....to my question.... Remember the "Free Underbody Ram Air Mod"??? I was wondering if I could make a larger scoop on the Right side and mount my cooler above it. I'm just worried that durring the 10+ minutes I usually have to wait on the staging line, there will not be sufficiant air movement to cool properly.

Anyone ever try this idea or a variation. Better yet, anyone have any recommendations how I can keep the temps down more?? Opinions welcome. Thanks.

You can get a mini electric fan for the tranny cooler.Turn it on when your in the staging lanes, and burn out. Then turn it off for the run.

Actually, I think that if you just get a manual fan switch for your radiator fans, it will blow through the radiator and hit the tranny cooler too. I'll let you know for sure next week. I've already got the fan switch and will be picking up my tranny cooler next week.
