Post Launching on my new 2800 Converter.. few ??'s...

Hey guys.. I should be hitting the track either tomorrow or Saturday. This will be my first time running on my new Vigi 2800, Shift Kit, and on a set of borrowed skinnies as opposed to my ZR1's up front. I'll have bald center'd nitto's on the back on 16" firebird rims.

Any suggestions on the launch? What should I stall the car at? Nitto's around 19 psi?

I REALLY want to try to hit the 12's.. I know I shouldn't, but I've been getting my hopes up... do you think the car might have it in her now?

First try leaving at idle and flashing the converter and If you are hooking up hard you can brakestall it as high as it will go and mash it when the lights come down. That is what my car does it's best 60' with. It will depend on what you run in the 1/8th to wether or not you will run 12's. I think you will have a better shot with some 3.73's and better tires. Just my .02.

Your .02 is welcome As it stands it doesn't look like I have the MPH to do it.. I'm not sure how much I'll gain w/ the skinnies over the ZR1's up front. It might be enough.. but maybe not :/...

I'm not sure why my MPH isn't a bit higher tho :/

I run my skinny's at 40 PSI for a better roll out. I run my Hoosier QtP's at 12 PSI hot.

I stall mine up to 1800 rpm. Last yellow lights, mash on the throttle, slammed back in the seat, hang on for a 1.69 60'.

If you are redlighting lower the pressure in your skinnies for a slower rollout.

Good luck,

Ken

Nitto's usually like a little more air pressure. I'd say start out with them at 22 psi hot. Do a good smokey burnout. Once you stage, brake torque it up to about 1500 rpm to preload the drivetrain and launch at that rpm. Basically, the converter will flash stall the rest of the way which will usually give you the best 60 ft if you don't spin. I've been able to get low 1.8 60 ft times on BFG drag radials with that method. I usually cut mid 1.7 60 fts on slicks. Those times are with a bad posi (one wheel wonder ). My Auburn Pro series diff gets installed this Tuesday.

You need to reall get the Nitto's hot. I flash the stall, seems to geet me the best 60 foot. I believe you have 12's in your set-up. Your at sea level, that helps. You just need to wait for some good cool weather, low humidity. It may be a while for that to happen, pretty toasty this time of year in Florida!! Good luck.
