It works in the same way as Carb heat too. Like in a air plane. It heats up the air coming in through the carb/TB. This also richens up the mixture.

Not there, that is a "hot" line, not a line of post-radiator coolant, it is coming out of the heater core which comes out of the flow towards the radiator.

It's a relative thing. If you take the time to look at Brent's web site and the tests he did on the TB bypass, you will see that the TB temperature was ~100* vs. a coolant temp of ~180*. BIG difference.

Btw, routing coolant through the TB to improve emissions is only ONE reason GM did it. There are other's, including driveability. Warmer air also = slower perceived throtle response, which = better driveability (from a grandma point of view )

I,m sorry guys but I wanna see where you read that GM routed hot coolant through the TB to help emissions.

I have been wrong before lord knows but I just don,t believe that was it.
Why didn,t they run it through the base of the carbs if this helped? It just don,t make sense.
Superchargers and turbos benefit greatly from intercoolers which I can guarantee you don,t heat up the intake charge.
It goes against everything we have learned.

it doenst use liq that absorbs the heat from the engine tho...it uses air... the way radiator helps keep the coolant 'cooler'

I dont have any GM documented proof, but think about the old carbuerated cars and the heat riser valves that directed hot air off the exhaust manifold into the intake to help wiht emmissions. Routing hot coolant through the throttlebody in ways does the same thing.

Warm air would help the engine get to temperature quicker, and hence burn cleaner.

Come on guys, It was design to prevent TB to freez so it wont get stuck in some freezing temp!
Carb have totally different world then Modern EFI engines!
