Re: Throttle body bypass
I have a 94 and all i had to do was Remove the lines that connect under the TB and then plug does line together but make sure that water can still run throu there. Then if you want plug the TB openings from where you removed the lines. try this site. www.projecttransam.com they have lots of usefull info.
Re: Throttle body bypass
What is the point of doing that? My car used to run good when cold.. as soon as it was fully warmed up there was a noticeable drop in power.
After my TB bypass the car has ran as strong as it did when it was cold. So what it does is that it keeps the air from getting hot and reducing the air density reaching the cylinders and robing the engine from oxygen and power while fully warmed up....
There isnt any gain in horsepower per say.... in my opinion in only keeps you from loosing your "cold engine horsepower" feel.... at the tone of about 7 hp... I like the TB bypass.. car feels always the same.... cold or warm... nice mod and it was free for me.

Re: Throttle body bypass
i'm kinda nervous about doing this throttle body bypass....is it easy??? i see it says something about vaccuum clamps 3/8"...i don't have any of those. i have a 97 formula, and i will be getting a cai and 160* thermostat within a few weeks.
it seems kind of confusing, what to do with the clamps and everything...

Re: Throttle body bypass
The TB bypass is one of the easiest free mods for the LT1. If you search you will find a ton of dyno sheets, some with over 10RWHP gains after the bypass.
If you picture your TB, it has 2 colland tubes coming out of it. The way to tell is when the car is running, touch the black tubes to find out which ones are hot from the coolant. They are about 1/2 inch in diameter.
With the car off, unplug those 2 tubes (make sure to have a towel underneath) and then connect them to each other using a connector found at any automotive store with a set of clips to hold em on. Done.

Re: Throttle body bypass
on mine it says take the rubber hose that was connected to the returns side of the TB and connect it to the metal tube comming up from the back of the head on the feed passangers side. clamp it, use one of the existing spring clamps that are no longer needed.
it also says remove both spring clamps from the passangers side feed line on the TB and on the steel line comming from the back of the head.
that seems a little confusing to me, cause it says no where that i need a connector..
