For those who remember my thread about my car not wanting to start after it sits
i decided to take the car to a shop and get it diagnosed... among a few things ill need to fix in the future including, rear end might need a rebuild, tranny should be flushed but i think that would kill it since it was flushed 17k ago and is dirty again and was slippiong but now isnt so i dont wanna mess with it, as well as an oil leak which im having the front seal changed,
anyway back to what they found in regards to this...apparantly it was the hose going from the MAF to the engine... and apparantly Pontiac is the only place to get one and its a $100 hose
i should have the car back tomorrow and its gonna cost ~ $425
$100 for the hose. $110 for the diagnostics, labor to put the hose in, and $125 for the front seal....
cars are money pits sometimes

Did you use this site before you threw your money away. The 1LE elbow is 79.00 and is a nice upgrade and takes 2-5 minutes to install. No charge for our help. I would pick your car up and find a real shop with real world prices.

I got my 1LE elbow for ~ 56 bucks. At least you didn't drop a huge wad before finding a place to get advice. I wish I would have checked out some sites like this prior to getting my car out of storage last Christmas. I bought 8 new fuel injectors at Advance for 75 bucks per. In hindsight, maybe it would have been better from a buyer's remorse standpoint if I hadn't found sites like this. At least they weren't Accel injectors.
Your not the first one not to recommend Accel. The guy who is going to tune my car said to stay far away. I think everyone needs to get ripped of first so it feels so much better when you do it yourself.

110 for diagnostics and labor to put a bellow on ?
he said it was not the vent tube on the elbow but rather a hose going into the MAF
and yes i did use this site and everyone said fuel pump. FPR, or injectors. i didnt want to just start replacing random parts

The only things connected to my MAF are the wiring harness and the intake, I think. I believe there is a vacuum hose from the air pump, or something, connected to my intake past the MAF, but I can't imagine paying 100 bucks for it.
I have a '94. It could be different.

i dont think it was the intake elbow cause i asked about that, he said it was some hose that was brittle that went down to the motor... if it was the nitake elbow i will be pissed if it is $100 bux cause i could have gotten a metal one from summitt for $82 bux for a black powdercoated one
it was the elbow, and i went in this morning (they hadnt installed it yet) and said i'd pay for the diagnosis, and the front seal im having them change, but that i didnt want the $96 elbow.... and then promptly called summitt and ordered a powdercoated black one for $92 shipped, if im gonna spend $90 bux i might as well get an upgraded metal one that wont rip again, FWIW GMparts direct showed $56 for that part, apparantly i was gonna be paying full dealer retail. he said they could send it back, i was worried i was gonna get stuck with that stock one, i did apoligize for misunderstanding him the first time i swore he said it was not the elbow....if he had said intake elbow from the TB to the MAF i'd have told him i wanted an aftermarket one anyway.... stock plastic for $96 bux i dont think so
