For those that have relocated battery...

When you put your battery in the rear, how do you rewire all the stuff that runs directly off the battery now..Like the alternator, and positive junction block? Run the main wire to the starter, and then wires to the other two from the starter?

I have all the info you might need Frank. Call me and I'll tell you how to run all that stuff and where to get the wiring kit for cheap to do it all.

Sounds like a plan, Matt. I'm dropping all the stuff for the rear off at Ronnies Saturday.

Nostang96z can you post the kit and short describtion of how you did your relocation ? What size battery are you using: CCA's ?

I did that on my car with a kill switch. I had to much voltage drop over the wires and it will not crank over correctly when cold.

I'm right off Barsdale Rd. Not far from Milburns. We've e-mailed before. I'm the one that used to work at Deltrans. I/m the one that built Dirks transmission.

The kit is a Ron Francis Wire Works Battery relocation kit with complete instructions and a crimping tool to custom lengthen the wires. I got the kit from www.rhodescustomauto.com for around $100 for everything. You can call up Ron Rhodes and tell him that Matt with the Red Z told you about it....he will hook you up. This kit takes care of all of the battery wiring. It comes with 2 full length battery cables that are about 1/2"+ in diameter. The trick to not having too much voltage drop is to use a good battery and using full length cables and lots of grounds. My main ground comes off of the battery and goes directly to the starter bolt at the bottom of the engine ( the whole length of the car). There is another ground that comes off of the battery and grounds to the framerail in the back. I also grounded by running a wire off of the engine block and to the factory ground bolt where the factory battery wiring tied in. I grounded the connections by running the big gauge wiring all the way to the factory locations...same thing for the hot wire but it went to the cutoff switch before it went to the front of the car. I ran my wires under the carpet and then used through panel connectors($24 for 2 from Jegs) to go through the firewall. You will need extra battery crimper connectors with the wiring kit to make this work correctly (~$10). I used 4 ga. wire for the factory alternator that runs all the way back to the battery. You can get this from a car stereo store for ~$30 for 15ft of length. Make sure you run the wire all the way from the alternator to the battery. I run a Flaming river cutoff switch and an Optima Red Top battery in a Morosso Blue battery box. Hope this helps anyone who wants to relocate their battery. The main thing is to connect in the same places as the factory wiring but add a couple more grounds and just run bigger gauge wires to lessen the voltage drop.
