Post Move Coil packs to Fire Wall?

Relocating the coil packs from the valve covers to the firewall seems like a great idea. Has anyone done this? How difficult is this job, and how much disassembly is required? Who makes a nice set of taller LS1 valve covers?

Sounds like a pretty good idea. I would love to get them off the covers. Of course you would need longer plug wires an some sort of rack or mount for the packs.

Moving the coil packs themselves isnt that hard but the ignition wires would have to custom made to greater lengths. In GMHT they had a T/A with a 427 stroker and C5R valve covers with relocated coil packs. In the article they only referred that the wires were custom made not who did it or how.

you wouldnt need "custom" wires, just order a set of universal V8 wires from MSD, Accell, Taylor, Moroso, or any of the manufacturers out there. Then Cut them to whatever length you need.. chances are they will be cheaper than the LS1 wires too...
