Summer Time is here and Need to keep engine cooler!

Hey guys,
You all know that when the temp get high we lose a big chunk of power that is definetely noticeable.

I would Like to keep my car at the lowest possible tmeperature.
I have a 160 hypertech thermo

What else can I do? I want the cooolest possible solution.

What are my options? What I have in mind are
Fan Switch
Watter Wetter for the Coolant/Radiator
I would like to do anything possible to keep it as low as can be. What do you think?

Get the fans programmed to come on sooner, tranny cooler if it's an A4 (want that to last too, right?), drain and fill with new coolant/water. A couple of bottles of Water Wetter wouldn't hurt either..

You could just get some heads and a big cam then you wouldn't be worried about losing a few hp from the heat.

Distilled water, NO coolant and a bottle of Redline. Knocked 10-15 deg off my stock '95. Whoever started calling antifreeze "coolant" gets an adrenaline rush from winding his Civic to 7k.

Talking

Hey silver, I heard that If you have no coolant then its bad for the engine. But if it wont cuase any harm, then i guess I can add only water and redline. Whats the pros and cons of this?

Get ready for your radiator to rust out. Also, coolant raises the boiling temperatur of water.

I just replaced my waterpump and I put a good mix of the dexcool anti freeze in ( probably a 70% coolent 30% water )

I noticed that the temp tends to rise slowly in comparison to a 50/50 mix

My car runs cooler and the water and radiator stays clean. This is fact, not rumor that's been twisted by post after post.

Straight tapwater can and will rust and corrode your radiator. That's the other advantage of the Redline - you need SOMETHING to fight corrosion and lube the water pump slightly... I'll give you three guesses what the distillation process is used for...

Some of you guys really shouldn't spread ignorant rumors. We've got enough to last as long as any of us will ever be around.

distilled water is de-ionized correct? Which will help stop corrosion

Distilled water is simply pure H2O. It is as pure H2O as you can get, free of any other chemicals or impurities.

As for running without coolant, most coolant has some anti-corrosive additives in it which keep anything from rusting and also helps to keep your water pump lubed. Running without coolant is a bad idea. I would at least put some in with your H2O, unless you are running about 50/50 mix of the redline.

You can save the $70 and wire your fan switch yourself. I don't remember where the link is for it, but you can save some money that way. My fans are always on in summer unless I'm getting on the x-way for a while, then I shut them off, they aren't really needed on the x-way. Temp never makes it to halfway, I need a 160 thermo, might keep it a little lower.
