Stall w/ LT4 Hot Cam?
Stall w/ LT4 Hot Cam?
Is a stall converter necessary when putting in the LT4 Hot Cam kit (not heads and intake, just cam springs, rockers, etc). Also, what else would you need to get, i.e., tune, headers, etc?
I am really interested in doing this over the summer, but want to get everything to do it right. Already planning on putting in 3.73's and some suspension mods.
I know that there are bigger cams out there, but I am really looking for street realiablility and drivability, among other things.

I think you'll be ok on the stock converter if you need to drive around like that while you save money. From driving my car around with the converter locked up with the HOTcam, I can tell it still has plenty of low end. That's with some home ported heads too. I have a Midwest 2800 converter, and it works well.
when i was doing the lt4 conversion i looked around and did a lot of research. i called TCI direct and talked w/ their tech support. my truck weighed 3600 lbs w/ me in it, they suggested a 3200 stall, so these guys are right.
I ended up going w/ a TCI super street fighter 3500 stall from www.texas-speed.com, got it in a group purchase for $443 right to my door. I loved it.. was a little over the top for the combo, but it was a fun little truck.. till i had to sell it.
