The Speed Pro / TRW pistons have been around for a long time, these days’ people have realized the benefits of a light weight piston.

Plenty of people still use them because they are a low cost alternative, with the extra aluminum they are very strong and can take a beating. You can run then into detonation or with NOS and unlike hiper pistons they can handle the abuse.

If you have the money for the light weight pistons, go for it. You’ll end up an engine that revs quicker and less weight swinging on the end of the rod is good for reliability.
