I can also see sandbags in the trunk to make the front end lighter.
What is the crane hooked to on the car?

I wouldn't worry about the sandbags either, the front end is pretty light without a motor, trans and subframe attached to it!
The crane is attached to a tow strap (you can get one like it at Home Depot) which is wrapped around the support that runs side to side in front of the radiator.
Coop1- There are two fasteners on the steering shaft, it's the piece that looks like it has two U-joints on it that connects the steering shaft coming through the firewall to the steering box on the subframe. I believe the bolts are 7/16"- one on each end. Remove these bolts and then work the steering shaft loose. It can be a pain the first time you do it, so you'll probably need a few screwdrivers, something to pry with and a small hammer. Just take your time with it.

Where did you get the furniture dolly? Is it something a guy can pick up at any furniture store because it would really help me out. My buddy is going to pull his motor again this weekend and we need one of those. Last time we used a tranny jack for working on big rigs which was ok but a dolly like that would make life easier for sure. Thanks

I'm a firm believer in taking the motor out from the bottom, but I would never use cement blocks to support anything. I have read of them crumbling unexpectedly more than once. You have no idea of any internal cracks or voids that may be there, and no idea how much weight they will support before they fail. Wooden supports are not likely to crumble like that.

My buddy says the dollies were in his house when he moved in. He also thinks you might be able to get something similar at U-haul.

I'll clean up the document a little today since it also has the teardown to date. I'll cut it back so it's just engine removal and email it for hosting.
Maybe FastZ will have some comments on it, like easier ways to do things, things that weren't necessary for removal, etc. I also started off with a furniture dolly under the k-member but it started to bend so I wimped out. It was hard to tell how much was just weight of engine/k/tranny and how much was due to the weight of the whole car.

Its kinda like setting a car up on coke cans. If you set it on them with the cans laying on there side it will crush the can. But if you set the cans vertically, they will hold a lot of weight.
