It will bolt up, but the holes in the intake are only 54MM. While it won't be overkill if you go forced induction it is most definatly overkill on stock internals.
alright my bad alot of info i gathered said that stock tb's were 52mm i guess i was wrong. but however i didnt have to port anything and the bbk 58mm tb fit in perfectly with no screwing around literally. and it is overkill on the current internals but like i said before im stroking and supercharging within two years starting now. But could you expand on the 1LE elbow and who the MAF is or what its all about?

The STOCK LT1 intake manifold has two 52mm bore holes in it. You can bolt a 58mm throttle body to it, and it will "fit in perfectly", but you will still have two 52mm holes in the intake manifold, limiting the flow through the 58mm holes in the throttle body. By creating a "sudden decrease" in diameter, you may have hurt the flow more than you helped it.

The "1LE elbow" appears to be virtually identical to you stock elbow. It simply lacks the long black plastic tube that hangs down in front of the timing cover. That tube is there for noise reduction, and the 1LE was a "performance package" intended for racers (no engine differences, limited power accessories and options, upgraded suspesnion) and they decided to delete the plastic tube, because noise wasn't considered an issue. It doesn't really alter performance, but it makes the elbow easier to remove and install. You can get the 1LE elbow from discount sources like gmpartsdirect.

The MAF is the "mass air flow" sensor. It measures how much air is entering the engine. The PCM (computer) takes that data, and adjusts the injector pulse width to provide the amount of fuel required to produce decent performance with least emissions (closed loop, 14.7:1 stoichiometric A/F ratio), or, at WOT the somewhat richer A/F ratio required to produce peak HP and peak torque.

If you have tears in the elbow, you are hurting peformance (air bypassing the MAF sensor - causing a lean condition, that the PCM has to fight to correct) and possibly damaging the engine with the unfiltered air. That's the place to spend your money. Not on the imagined benefits of larger injectors and a larger MAF that will not be needed for a couple of years.

okay im going to have to take the tb off and take a closer look.

Thanks for the info on the 1LE elbow ill look for one of those now.

sorry i was using MAF as the manufacturer not mass air flow sensor.

Right now i have no tears in my elbow but its tight so i wanted to look for something alittle better and fits alittle nicer.

Thanks guys this taught me alot and ill look in to everything cause me and my dad havent delt with "newer" car technology like this before so thats why i came on this website to find out alot of stuff cause you guys seem to know what your talkin about. thanks again.

"what about a cheap solution to the below? MAF part is a rubber piece of **** that is all torn and barely fits on the bbk. any ways to get a new one without spending hundreds of dollars?"--FiLTeRFresH

junkyard wont suffice, need some some higher quality stuff.--FiLTeRFresH

the main thing i learned from all the guys on this site is....FAST,RELIABLE, AND CHEAP PICK 2! higher quality stuff is going to cost more, but in the long run is a going to make up for the money spent...!

With the same mods you have and a 3800 converter I ran 12.80s @ 106 with a 1.77 60 ft time. I definately needed et streets. If I were you I would put a Torque arm on the car and start tuning. I also had a stock throttle body, stock elbow, shorty bbk headers, and a flowmaster cat back. Your making plenty of power now, you just need to find it. JMHO. Eric L

You can also put a bag of ice on them at the track if you're that worried about it. It won't matter a whole lot when you're driving around on the street.

I've run the Vortech & Trickflow elbows. I personally like the Trickflow better because it doesn't have a divider in it (makes it easier to plumb a methanol kit on a FI application).
