scan/real time software

What setup are most of you guys using?

I was thinking about buying a data cable, just curious what you guys are using with it.

It's a 97 with odb2.

I got the AKM USB cable, and it works great. I'm using Freescan for now, but might get TTS because it has more data available and lots of nicer features, like showing what BLM cell you are running in realtime, for example. Tunercat is good, too, for tuning.

They don't have a Datamaster for OBDII (I don't think anyway). You'll have to use EFILive or something similar. It'd cost you less if you just converted to OBDI. There are copies of Datamaster EE floating around here.

Whoops, I didn't notice you are OBDII. Disregard my above OBDI advice. Sorry.

do you use your setup for re-flashing as well? Ive heard there are stability issues with USB on OBD1. Ive been looking for an old laptop for this reason, but should i just get the USB cable?

OBD-II scan software. Cable comes with the software package. I use this on my 02 Silverado.

Wow, only $200 for everything. Is it possible to use the cable they provide with another program, like LT1_Edit?

I use tunerpro RT for my scanning. I used to tune with it too, but I do not use my burnable chip and programmer anymore since my dyno tune(93 LT1 = chip, tuner needed stock chip for realtime emulating to ecu). I loved it for tuning.

It is not nearly as pretty as datamaster when scanning, but can monitor every value from the computer, and the dashboard feature is nice. I just wish you could set the dash to more then six sensors at a time though.

To be honest, the biggest reason I use it is that it is free and came with my chip burner package from moates .

USB is always better. Some new laptops don't even have serial equipped. I had to let my buddy use my laptop for his microtek tuning because his laptop had no serial port.
