I've been following opti delete projects for a long time and I'm pretty sure you can delete the opti completely if you're willing to do the 411 pcm swap and harness re-pin. Now I've also found one video of a guy that stumbled upon the fact that the 411 pcm will still fire the coil with the 96 timing cover and obd2 crank reluctor, without the cam signal from the vortec distributor, but will fire in batch mode.
The other option is vortec distributor with the 411 vortec express van tune and re-pin harness. Good luck. I myself went with torqhead essentials kit and started modifying an ls harness, as it seemed easier and more cost effective solution.
