replacing a 95 motor with a 97?

what all would i have to change to swap out my blown 95 motor with a motor from a 97?

Only things I can think of is whatever pertains to the OBD2. Should be easy though.

You would just have to swap the 95 knock sensor into the 97 engine. You will end up with some unconnected items, like the crank position sensor.

What about putting a 94 LT-1 in a 96? Just crank position sensor, change timer covers?

You mean replace the timing cover so you can add the crank sensor/reluctor? You would also have to check the hub for the harmonic damper, since I think the later engines used a shorter hub to make a space for the CKP reluctor gear. And you would hve to use a 96/97 knock sensor. You'll also be missing a lot of hardware for the AIR system and the EVAP system. All of that could be swapped from one engine to the other.
