10-30 works well in los Angeles for me.(that's what the owners manual said to use). But,if you have the original waterpump, might replace it cause they usally last about 80,000 or so.Hope this helps.

Actually... you didn't cross-post, you tried to hijack this thread ... and didn't get a response.

I use Royal Purple and although it's costly, I never have had any oil pressure problems. This is what the previous owner ran, and now I am running it. Just any day now I will have it back together and will tear the roads up for the first time in three years. I'm getting excited. Now if only my "little brother" could get a little time off. lol

Good luck finding the "right oil", you will get people saying mobil one, rotella, brad penn, german castrol syntec, syntec, royal purple, $1 a quart dollar general oil etc. All them with different weights even. Maybe since you specified you live where its hot that will make it a bit better.

I use Castrol GTX. If it's good enough for John Force to run it's good enough for me.

Oils are heavily marketed. Take your clue from that and realize that anything over $3-4/qt. is going to marketing or just plain old profit. The Camao and daily driver get whatever name brand 10W-30 strikes my fancy. The race car get Brad Penn 20W-50, FWIW.

I would run amsoil 5w30. Brad penn oil is catching my attention a little more these days. Can't wait to get back to the dyno and do some comparisons. I know on blackstone oil anaylsis samples i sent in have always came back with oil is still useable whenever i use amsoil. Even after 22,000 miles in one instance and over 190,000 with only filter changes on an 5.9 cummins diesel truck. But i also ran 290,000 on mobil 1 before i switched to amsoil. I picked up 6hp, all the way to 184hp when i switched. My 2 cents.
