questions about dtc 43

I put a 94 f-body motor into my impala SS and I am getting a check engine light, not the ses light. I scanned it and I am getting a dtc 43. When I looked it up it says knock sensor. My question is that the f-body motor only uses 1 knock sensor on the pass side. Impalas have one on each side of the block. I have the knock sensor connector just hanging there on the driver side because I don't have a knock sensor on that side. Is that my problem or does it not matter that the driver side one is not hooked up?

Is that code going to hurt performance at all? I have been working on getting the bugs out for months and want to get this thing on the road.

Thanks
Brandon

When DTC 43 sets, the PCM calculates knock retard using data from other sensors. As a result, you end up with almost constant knock retard, from idle to WOT, and as much as 15 degrees. Definitely hurting performance.

Why not just pull the block drain plug out of the drivers side of the block and screw the knock sensor in, where it belongs?

Post 2 knock sensors

THe B-body PCM reads 2 knock sensors, while the f-body one only reads one. Like Injuneer said, take your old sensors and put them in your new motor. I don't know if the sensors are different (between f and B bodies). I hada similiar "problem" with mine when I put it in my 68. Using a scanner it showed the PCM is retarding the timing 5 degrees. It will run fine until you get it in but your performance will not be the same (less). I added the other one and it ran great! Hope this helps.

When I had pcmforless reprogram the computer I think I told him I was only going to run 1 knock sensor, or to take the knock sensors right out of the pcm but I cannot remember and the paperwork doesn't say anything. I guess I will just buy a new one and throw it on and see what happens.
Thanks
Brandon

Does anyone have a pinout of the actual knock module? I have an after market ECU and I'm trying to use the anti-knock features, but I need more info...... Thanks,
Sean

Update: I went and bought the 2nd ks and threw it on. Not only am I not getting code 43 anymore my fans are working properly now. I guess when the pcm only saw 1 knock sensor it put itself into limp mode and would throw both fans on at start up. I was pumped! I actually got to drive the Impala for the 1st time ever(bought it in December with no motor). Car did very well and sounded mean as heck..
Thanks for the help
