Question on modifications

Hey everyone, Im new here. I don't yet have an fbody but I will soon if all goes well. I've been reading up on these cars and have searched the archives but haven't found an answer to my specific questions. When I get my car(6 speed) I plan on doing the following modifications to it. CAI, Hooker longtubes and a true dual exhaust with an H pipe and dumped before the axles and to top it off a 100 shot of nitrous. First off, should I get a wet or dry shot. Second, do I have to do any fuel mods to support the 100 shot and is there anything else I would need. Also, what kind of power and torque would I be looking at and quarter mile times. I know it's hard to judge but if any of you have similar mods and know your power or 1/4 mile times that would be great. Sorry for all the newbie questions and thanks a lot. Tyler

I am not very familar with nitrous but if you post this question in the N20 forum I am sure you will get alot more answers. I know most people usually go with a Wet kit and upgrade there injectors to SVO 24 lbers.

I would go with a wet kit for 100 shot, and 30lb fuel injectors, and instead of an H pipe on the dual exhaust I would go with an X pipe. The hooker long tube header is an excellent choice for headers. There are a few free mods out there to that will give you an extra 20 hp, but with the headers and dual pipe alone with out cats will give about 30 hp its self easy if you have an LT1 the stock manifolds are the worst thing ever. If you can get away with it don’t put any cats on it, or have the exhaust done in such a way you can switch them out with a piece of pipe.

With the CAI, headers and true-duals, you might be looking at a quick 40-50HP. That HP level does not require larger injectors... the stockers will be fine up 400HP or more.

On the nitrous... I ran the NOS 5176 dry kit for almost 5 years. Comes with an inline fuel pump that boosts your fuel pressure when you spray. With that kit, you still use the stock size injectors. You will need to upgrade the stock TYPE injectors to a pintle style injector, like the SVO or Bosch, to handle the higher fuel pressure without locking up. A 100-shot is borderline... sort of in between the point where you do or don't need the inline fuel pump, probably don't need to retard timing, etc.

If you opt for a wet kit, you still use the strock injectors... the extra fuel goes in through the shark nozzle, or whatever you use. Again, the stock fuel system is probably good for 400-450HP, so you might not need a fuel pump upgrade.

If you think in terms of 100HP gets you a quick 1-second 1/4-mile ET improvement, the CAI/headers/duals should net you about 1/2-second. The nitrous will pick up another one second improvement, assuming you have the traction.

You need to look at the big picture... more HP needs upgraded drive train and suspension.

Thanks for the replies guys. So shouild I go with an x or H pipe. From my understanding the x flows more, but might be more expensive. Anyone have sound clips of cars with an x pipe and cars with h pipes. Thanks Tyler

I have no idea why someone would recommend changing injectors if the only significant mod is a wet kit. The wet kit has both nitrous and fuel jets and shouldn't require any change in the injectors. Maybe I'm missing something
