Cool 2000 Z28 with a big block

I have a 00' Z28 Camaro that is just a roller. Now price is not an issue I just want a toy. What would it take to install a 7.5 L (460 CID) gas V8 ((I would be taking the 7.5l out of a F350 88')) into this car. The car was setup as a v8 previously. My first question would could the frame withstand it, period? If so, what kind of modification would I have to do to the engine mounts & transmission (Manual) + any others. To make it safe to drive.

Re: 2000 Z28 with a big block

You want to put a Ford engine in a Chevy Camaro?

Pretty sure no one has ever done that. On the other hand 454ci (and even 512ci) big block Chevy engines have been installed in 4th Gens.

Chassis will handle the power, with basic modifications like subframe connectors, and a cage. Modified 4th Gens have run 7-second 1/4-miles.

In any case, this is "LT1 Based Engine Tech". That covers 1993-1997 models. I'll move your thread to "General 67-02 F-Body Tech" so we can see if anyone can help you with your specific request.

I don't know about a big-block, but pretty common to put the 6.0 engine in the older Camaros. It was an LSX model, bolts right in. They made them with forged internals, maybe in the Cadillac, if memory serves- LQ9 option, I think. That motor, and a mild cam, and you had a beast.

Interesting thread:

Unfortunately the link to "Zena the Big Block Camaro" (454ci BBC) no longer works. It was a detailed "how to" on the install.
