question on lt1 afr 190 heads

High I was wondering. If anyone here is familiar with the afr if 190 heads. for a lt1. Was looking at a set of used ones with 2.02 int and 1.60 exhaust. 52cc combustion chamber. Was wondering what the stock piston what the compression. may be doing a 383 in the future. If anyone can give me the pros and cons on these heads I would appreciate it they are just C&C ported
thank you pat

I did when the heads.for1340.00 they only had 500 miles on them. I think this was a good price. I would like to hear from anyone that has these heads. Would love to hear your build. A friend gave me new 305 cam. Just trying to see what other people are using these heads like. In their set up. Going to try to use them stock first. Then when I build a 393 I'll have them ported.

AFR is more about marketting than results especially with their smaller heads like these. Prepare to be disappointed once you realize how much faster guys with ported stock heads are.
They built a good reputation when the OEMs had garbage heads when GM stepped things up in a big way with the LT1 heads AFR did not keep pace but managed to retain their reputation through the magic of advertizing.

I run a set of afr 190 heads on a 97 LT1 383 - D1. They flow well over the stock heads. I have 54cc chambers with -28cc JE pistons to yield 9.5 comp ratio. They have a 3/4" deck. I use a fel-pro 1074 head gasket which has worked well with the D1 pulley @ 7.6 to 3.4". Full timing 34* @ 100kpa with no knock. They only allow .550" valve lift with std length valves. I use the afr rev kit (alot of people do not like it). I think it helps alot. Hope this helps. B.
