Question on Air/EGR

If you were to erase these from your PCM by getting a custom chip made, will the benefits still be the saem if u left both the air pump and EGR on with it removed on the PCM, or do you still have to yank them out for it to have a benefit?

What do you mean by "benefits"?
You won't gain any HP by removing them. People remove them mainly for a cleaner looking engine or if you install things like headers which don't have fittings for them...

As pointed out, these are not "performance" mods.... AIR runs for a few minutes at startup... never at WOT - no way it can affect performance, unless you remove it completely and save about 7# weight.

EGR only operates at some part throttle conditions, never at WOT, and actually helps prevent detonation when lugging the engine at low/moderate RPM in too high a gear. Not even a lot of weight to be saved on this one.

When my engine was first done, is was making 762HP, and it still had a fully functioning AIR, EGR and EEC system..... . That stuff has only been removed recently in an attempt to save some weight. And the car is no longer street driven, so emissions and "codes" are no longer a concern.

i see

I understand what you guys are saying and what i meant by benefits was the fact that, will the computer recognize that those codes are gone, and the air pump and EGR would be doing absolutly nothing. I suppose I used the wrong terminology there, my horrendous. I just was unclear whether or not the computer would still work properly. Just brushing up on my knowledge...thanks guys
