Question about rotating assemblies?

Question about rotating assemblies?
Okay, I've been shopping for 383/396 stroker motor rotating assemblies for my LT1 '97 Z28. I've read in posts on other forums that any one (1) piece rear main seal SBC rotating assembly will fit the LT1 motor? These other sources state that all the LT1 differences from late model, (i.e. read 1 piece rear main seal SBC motors), are in the block and heads; and that any SBC - 1 piece main rotating assembly will fit the LT1 motor. First of all, is this true???
Secondly, if it is true, why are LT1 specific rotating assemblies priced about $300 - $700 dolars more than the same quality components for just late model SBC engines???
TIA for all replies.

Re: Question about rotating assemblies?
Is it just me or are both the things you saying the same? They both say that any 1 piece rear will fit the LT1. That is correct.
The differences you are seeing in price is most likely due to balancing, and one maybe including rings, bearings etc, where the other is more bare bones.
Also you really cant say "same quality". You need to make sure the stuff is the SAME, before making price assumptions

Re: Question about rotating assemblies?
Atljar, I guess in a "roundabout" way you've answered my question....... so any SBC 1 piece RMS rotating assembly kit will fit the LT1 engine??? I know it's hard to compare "apples to apples" with these kits but when both kits have 4340 forged cranks and rods and forged pistons, are both balanced on a "Hines" balancer and one uses say Federal Mogul bearings/rings while the other kit uses Speed Pro, (or some other bearing/ring manufacturer), it's kind of hard to justify a $200-$300 price differential. What I'm saying is that basically both kits are nearly identical with the possible exception of say bearing or ring suppliers, but the ones "marketed" as for LT1 specific applications are consistantly more expensive.

Re: Question about rotating assemblies?
Quicksilver97ta, okay I'm not sure on how to post a link but I'll humor you guys with one example of what I'm finding. Go to: www.dallasexportsales.com/RALT1383.htm and see what you get for $1,320.00 on an LT1 specific package. Then go to: www.adperformance.com click on "rotating assemblies", then click on "Eagle SBC rotating assemblies", and see what you get for $720.00.
You guys see $600.00 of difference here????
In general just do a Google search on both "LT1 Rotating Assemblies" and "SBC Rotating Assemblies".

Re: Question about rotating assemblies?
The one you linked that is LT1 specific has a balancer and a SFI flywheel included. The other doesnt. Also the LT1 one has a better quality of metal in the rods, and also a better piston.

Re: Question about rotating assemblies?
The more expensive one also has 6" rods in addition to the flywheel and balancer, plus it's a different brand. FWIW the eagle kit is about on par with a kit I bought but I paid more for forged SRP pistons and full floating 6" rods.
